yeast infection junk
I checked the memories, and they answered my first question but now I have more. lol has any one had any experience with nature's bounty probiotic acidophilus capsules for digestive health for treating yeast infections? if so, how long do I take them and how far up do they go when inserted vaginally? one more, if taken by mouth by a male, would it clear up a light infection? and how long should he take them? or would just the creams work? sorry I know real little about this stuff. @_@ Current Mood: calmCurrent Music: rose of may-katethegreat19 |

FO: Sock First!
My husband is a truck driver in the northeast. Since he's in and out of the truck at night in all kinds of bad weather, he asked if I could make him some wool socks. So I popped on over to ebay, found some wool and finally finished these last night. They came out pretty well, I thought, and even fit him. Go me! :D ( Read more... ) Current Mood: accomplished |

Central Park Not-Hoodie - Finis
These photos are the best of the lot. I seriously despise having my photo taken so these are the ones I will allow to go out to you all. Sweater is complete except I need to sew in the zipper, but that will wait until tomorrow night. (When I can get to the store and buy one.) Husband - who is ill with some kind of plague took the photos. All the photos of the front are blurry and super icky. He is hopped up on NyQuil and a bit loopy. A while back someone showed me a hat she had made for her daughter with a diamond pattern, and it looked just like this (ravelry link) but it was knitted. I am wondering if anyone knows this pattern? I just can't seem to find it on ravelry, where I was told it had been found. I got the yarn and everything and thought I had the pattern but... well, I somehow managed to miss that the above is a crochet pattern. I know how to crochet so it's not that, but I really wanted to knit it. Any and all help appreciated! ETA: Pattern found! |

Mullein dosage question
I sent my husband to the store to get me a mullein tincture for my cough. He misunderstood me and brought home a mullein flower ear oil. I already opened it so I can't take it back. The ingredients say mullein flower extract (1:4) and Extra Virgin Olive Oil (that's it). It seems like I could still take it for a cough, but I'm not sure what kind of dosage. Anyone have any guesses? |

Fatigue
I am tired. I'm not depressed or otherwise mentally incapacitated and I want to do more, but after I get home from work, I could do nothing and be happy. I've been to the doctor twice about this, and always the blood work comes back without any problems. I think excercising would help tremendously, but I don't have the time to go after work and getting up early enough to go feels like I imagine "hitting the wall" feels like to marathoners and leaves me exhausted for the rest of the day. I don't eat processed foods, but probably eat more white rice and pasta than I should. I don't drink soft drinks or eat much sugar because eating sugar and processed foods leaves me feeling icky (other female relatives in the family are diagnosed with hypoglycemia, and I have a sneaky hunch I'm border line, even if the bloodwork comes back showing nothing). I know that a fairly significant lifestyle change is needed, but how does one make a lifestyle change when doing anything is so dad gum tiring? Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make getting up early to go to the gym less of a midevil torture, so that I can start making a habit of it a few days a week (which will hopefully grow into more days a week?) I'm not looking for a "magic bullet", but some things that might help out enough that I can start helping myself. I'm a 26 year old female, not pregnant, and otherwise in good shape. Thanks for the input! |

Recycling Christmas Trees
I searched to see if this was asked before and I found nothing. I was also hoping someone would touch on this subject, but no avail! So here I am with a dying Christmas tree next to my carport. I really want to do something useful with this thing and I have been keeping my eye out on local news and such to see if anything pops up. It hasn't. I know a couple years ago I heard you can donate trees for beach erosion?? I can't find any info on this! I just don't want to chuck it to the landfill! Can anyone help? :( |

Dropped a stitch that was increased..
Hey all. I dropped a stitch was a kf&b. How do I pick up this stitch? I know how to pick up one dropped stitch with a crochet hook but I don't know how to do an increased one.. Thanks for any help. EDIT: I invented something and moved on.. hopefully it'll look okay. lol. I'd still like to see what the right thing to was. I still had the original 1 stitch on the needle but it was just supposed to be two of them not one and I wasn't sure how to get the second out without moving along in the row. Sorry if I'm confusing. |

ringworm
It would appear that our new puppy came to us bearing a fungal gift! Does anyone have any suggestions of a really good natural way to treat Ringworm on a dog? I have been thinking Tea Tree Oil would be best. I just feel hesitant to use the anti-fungal wash prescribed by the vet as I am 8 months pregnant and don't like the look of the chemicals on the back! My husband isn't home often enough to wash her three times a day so it's down to me! Any suggestions or experience treating this sort of thing? I don't want to be stuffing around with natural treatments if they aren't going to work as I'd like the ringworm gone before baby comes! What would you do if you were me? |

i have a pair of leather boots that i'd like to waterproof. i know i can buy all sorts of mixes, but i'd like something that is more natural, even if i'll have to apply it more often, unless 'more often' means every time i wear the boots in snow or rain. i read that lanolin is one possibility, are there others? x-posted to thetrail |

Owlings Pattern
I feel like an idiot. I've made tons of fingerless gloves with gussets and I just can't figure this pattern out for the thumb. Ravelry link: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/owlings#Here are my questions: when it says to K7 onto waste yarn, do I cast on 7 and then knit a row of 7 with those? And then when I slip them back on the left needle how do I start knitting again after those 7 stitches? Will it leave those 7 just kind of hanging? I can't visualize this at all. Is there an easier way to do this? I should know better than to start a pattern before reading it all the way through. :( I've Googled and can't find a good visual explanation. Help, please! And thank you! |

Cleaning Furniture
I've recently received 2 pieces of hand-me-down furniture. One is a baby change table and the other is a beautiful old wooden rocking chair. They have been in storage apparently and are dusty and dirty. I want to clean these pieces - I normally use natural cleaning products and I am pregnant so it feels particularly important that I continue to use natural. These pieces are dirtier than I am used to cleaning. Any ideas on what I can use? The change table is wood with a painted finish - once clean my partner is going to repaint it. The rocking chair is varnished/lacquered wood that probably won't be refinished. Thanks in advance. |

Sinus Infection troubles
Hello all, I have a slight problem. I currently have a sinus infection that I am on antibiotics for. However, I am finding that as the infection is draining one of the glands on my neck is, by the looks of things, getting infected as well, while I am still on the antibiotics. Do any of you have any suggestions on ways to beat the secondary infection, or help the antibiotics along? I have already been drinking lemon honey and ginger tea with a small amount of salt and gargling with warm water (boiled then cooled) and salt. Thanks |

Reeds for diffusers
Does anyone know of a place where I can find just the reeds that go in those reed diffusers everyone is selling? I hesitate to buy a diffuser kit because I can't be sure that the fragrances aren't awful for me, and because I can make a natural one for pennies on the dollar with some essential oil, an empty bottle, and reeds. But all I can find are wholesale reeds, and I really don't need that many. Any ideas? |

ARGH! Hiya Hiya interchangeables issues?
So I got a set of Hiya Hiya interchangeables (small, 2-8) from my sister for Christmas! I already have a set of Knit Picks Options that I have been working with almost exclusively this past year, but she only recently discovered how serious my knitting "habit" has become, and I think she thought she'd surprise me. ;D So sweet. I've been pretty curious to give these a try anyway, so I cast on a new project with the size 2s almost as soon as I got home. And.... well, as I had commented my suspicion previously (I think to lakesidetiger, who also got a set recently?), I am indeed having a HECK of a time keeping the needles screwed down while I'm working!!! It seems like every WS row I need to retighten. And it doesn't seem to be any particular defect of the needle or cable; it just won't stay tight as I knit. So far I do like the swivel function of the cable end, but it doesn't seem to be doing as much to help keep the needle tip screwed on as I was hoping. Has anyone else with these needles experienced the same problem? Are there any special tricks for tightening the tips down that you guys have found helpful? My version of a review of these so far: - Tips are pretty blunt compared to the KPs; I would even say they're blunter than normal Addis. I'm a fan of sharper points myself. - Steel finish needles rather than nickel plated, so they're not as slippery as KP Options or Addi Turbos. - The swiveling cable join is GREAT!! And the cables are nicely flexible. But the join between the cable end and the needle tip is NOT as smooth as the KP join. No matter how tight I screw the needle tip down I still get a slight hitch/snag when I pass my stitches over the seam between tip & cable, and also at the cable end itself because of the slightly bulbed shape. - Don't forget these needle tips are shorter than the KPs and Addis! As lakesidetiger said, it takes a little getting used to; the edge of my palm was a little sore after the first day. I feel like these put a little more stress on your fingers/grip because of the shortness, but YMMV. - The beautiful carrying pouch is super handy! I've already transferred my KP tips into the extra slots, and the cables and end holders etc all into the little zip pouches. I'm a fan. - Mostly though, as I was kind of expecting, not having a key to tighten the needle tip down is proving to be a real problem for me. I supposed I could use some plumbers tape or a dab of seam goo to help seal the screws temporarily, but it seems like such a PITA! I'm pretty tempted to switch this project over to a diff set of needles entirely. It could just be these size 2 tips in particular, and the larger tips may be easier to tighten, but I don't know how much use I'll be able to get out of this set as it stands. Also! Loose ribbing no matter the combination 2x2 4x4 etc etc..
I've been knitting for about a year. Everything is fine for me, but I hate doing projects that require any ribbing. My ribbing is ALWAYS loose on the knit stitches. The V's are kinda separating in the middle. I have no idea what I could be doing wrong. I'm not twisting stitches and this is just always a persistent problem in my knitting for as long as I can remember. Any suggestions? I'll take a picture if I can. Current Mood: frustrated |

Clogged Toilet
Hey everyone! Due to the plumbing structure in my not-so-well-planned-out house, the toilet gets clogged very easily. We have tried plunging and it doesn't quite work everything down the drain. We are trying to not use Drano (work that work on a toilet clog anyway?), so what can we use? I've checked the tags before posting and most posts seem to be about hair clogs... not really so much about human waste... Help? Thanks!!!! |
